Residents and staff evacuated safely ahead of Hurricane Ian

Good Samaritan Society locations in DaytonaDeLand and Kissimmee, Florida, have initiated their hurricane preparedness plans to ensure the safety and security of residents and staff. Due to the risk of severe flooding from Hurricane Ian, Osceola County officials recommended all residents evacuate from our Good Samaritan Society – Kissimmee Village campus.
Health care center and assisted living residents from Kissimmee Village were evacuated to Good Samaritan Society – Florida Lutheran in DeLand. Evacuations were completed on Tuesday.

Residents are receiving regular care rounds and wellness checks in DeLand. Numerous employees from Kissimmee also evacuated to DeLand to continue serving residents and to ensure there are safe staffing levels in place at all time. We have followed our emergency preparedness plan, which includes having additional food and supplies on hand.
Our team is working around the clock to care for residents during this time, so we ask that you please reconsider any non-urgent visits or calls to Kissimmee Village, or neighboring locations in DeLand or Daytona Beach.
Shelter accommodations are in place for independent living residents who filed under Category 2 hurricane assistance. All other independent living residents were notified of evacuation orders, including manufactured home residents. All administration and personnel have vacated the campus and will not return on-site until it’s safe to do so. Any on-site assistance is currently unavailable.
