Mullaney named March's Civil Service Employee of the Month

In recognition of her work as a custodial services supervisor in Student Life Building Services, Carolyn Mullaney has been named the March Civil Service Employee of the Month.
Her reception will start at 3 p.m. March 24 in Caldwell Hall Lobby.
Starting her position in 2013, Mullaney is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness of multiple residence halls. Her duties include training and supervising staff, ensuring supplies are ordered and completing custodial tasks.
One of her nominators wrote, “The department has been frequently understaffed, yet she is always willing to be creative, share staff and complete tasks herself to maintain cleanliness in the hall.”
“Mullaney has a positive attitude and is always willing to step in where needed. She continues to take on a student-centered approach to her work, serving as a leader to keep the residential halls a clean and safe environment for its residents,” another nominator submitted.
“She works to make sure all her staff members are heard and feel they are a valued part of the Housing and Residential Life team … Carolyn’s open and welcoming communication style has served as a bridge for student staff to engage positively and proactively with our custodial staff,” said Nathaniel Condelli, who now works in the University Student Union after serving as a residence hall director of Binnewies Hall.
Mullaney has five children, and has been married to her husband, Mike, for over 25 years. She is involved in the Lions Club, teaches Bible school and is an active member at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She enjoys watching SDSU sporting events and is looking forward to seeing SDSU grow.
All SDSU Employee of the Month selections are determined through a nomination process by the Civil Service Advisory Council. Each civil service employee of the month receives an appreciation monetary gift from the F.O. Butler Foundation. The trustees of the foundation recognize the importance of civil service employees and take this opportunity to thank them for their exemplary service.
