Medicare Advantage expands coverage, adds benefits

Sanford Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage plan, Align powered by Sanford Health Plan, is expanding to 38 new counties for its second year.
County names in bold below are new for 2023 among those where Sanford Health Plan currently offers Medicare Advantage coverage:
There are three key benefit enhancements this year.
Members can save more when using preferred pharmacies, including CVS, Gateway Pharmacy, Lewis Drug, Sanford Health Pharmacy, Seip Drug and Thrifty White.
All Align powered by Sanford Health Plan members will also receive access to the nation’s largest network of dental providers with Delta Dental.
Over-the-Counter quarterly benefits are being increased to $55 for Align ChoicePlus and $75 for Align ChoiceElite.  This will provide members up to 37% more to purchase items such as cold medicine, bandages, and more through NationsBenefits.
John Snyder, president of Sanford Health Plan, said bringing Medicare Advantage plans, which include numerous supplemental benefits, to more counties Sanford serves will help support our mission of improving health.
“As a health plan that is part of Sanford Health’s integrated system of care, we are uniquely positioned to provide personalized, comprehensive and affordable coverage for Medicare beneficiaries throughout the region,” said Snyder. “Because of the positive outcomes we saw in our first year offering Medicare Advantage, we’re able to bring the plans to more seniors across the Dakotas, Minnesota and now into Iowa. We are focused on keeping people healthy and well by equipping our members with innovative services and extra benefits to improve health and manage chronic conditions.”
Medicare Advantage plans provide an all-in-one bundled option for seniors, combining Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage with additional, more robust benefits which may include prescription drug coverage, preventive care, dental, vision and hearing and other services like meals and fitness memberships.
Medicare-eligible individuals in the expansion counties will soon be able to enroll in Sanford’s Medicare Advantage plans for the 2023 plan year during the Annual Enrollment Period that runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, 2022. Residents who live in counties where we currently offer Medicare Advantage can enroll in Align powered by Sanford Health Plan at any time if they have a Special Enrollment Period.
