How to fit in exercise with a busy lifestyle

We all know it: Regular physical activity is good for our health. According to research, sedentary women who started exercising said they had a lot more energy and were in better moods than when they were inactive. Even 10 more minutes of exercise a day can provide some quality of life benefits.
So what’s stopping most Americans from engaging in a physical activity routine?
For many, the answer is simple, yet complex: Life gets in the way. Making time to exercise may not be at the top of your to-do list. Putting it on your to-do list may be one of the best things you do for you and your family.
Start with a plan. Here are some questions to help fit physical activity into your schedule.
Start with something you enjoy doing.
Start with what you can do in a day, even if that is 10 minutes.
Pick a time that physical activity is doable, not a time that conflicts with other routines.
Observe your life for a week. How will you get back on track when your plan falls apart? Everyone has days when routines don’t work out. Unexpected life events can also disrupt plans. Have a mental plan to keep you going through the tough times.
Write yourself a note and keep it handy when you need to tell yourself you are worth the time it takes to exercise. After all, it only takes 10 minutes a day to gain some of the benefits.
Fit physical activity into your busy life. It will be worth the commitment.
